Michael Arcega and Manh Do Van Tran

SAN JOSE — According to the San Jose Police Department, 19-year-old Oakland resident Nathan Nai Fong Saechao and 29-year-old Hayward resident Manh Do Van Tran were identified as possible suspects in the shooting death of  San Francisco resident, 34-year-old Michael Arcega.  The SJPD arrested Saechao on May 16th in Oakland. The day previous, suspect Tran was arrested in San Jose. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for PC 187 Felony murder.

During the investigation that began on October 24, 2015,  SJPD Officers responded to the 1500 block of Monterey Road to the Lu Beer Club and Restaurant on a report of firearms discharged. SJPD Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspects at the time remained unidentified and at large. Arcega’s death marked the city’s 24th homicide of the year.

The shooting of an up and coming real estate agent seemed senseless.  As reports came back it was soon realized that the night club had several drive by shooting incidents, as well as physical fights spilling out from the nightclub into the parking area.
