CHICO – A guitar assault occurred late at night on September 25. Near midnight numerous calls came into CPD dispatch about a fight near 3rd and Main Streets.
Arriving officers found the 32-year-old male victim. The other male hit him with a guitar and fled.
Come to find out, a preceding argument led to the assault. During the argument, the victim, grabbed a plastic milk crate and swung it at the suspect.
29-year-old Jamie Harper then “went to his personal belongings and obtained a guitar.” Then he “struck (the victim) several times with the guitar on the head.”
Before long an officer spotted Harper on 4th and Broadway Streets and arrested him. His charge is assault with a deadly weapon.
The man hit with the guitar went to the hospital with a non-threatening head injury.
