A Lassen County man is in custody following an alleged shooting in which he exchanged gunfire with another man, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

On the evening of October 2, a witness reported seeing two men shoot at each other in an alley near her backyard on the 300 block of Fir Street in Westwood. The witness told deputies that one of the suspects had pulled up in a black Ford Ranger towing a utility trailer, and that the driver got out and briefly exchanged gunfire with another man who’d been standing near the neighbor’s garage. Both men ultimately got into their own vehicles and drove away.

Deputies soon learned that the driver of the truck, identified as 43-year-old Nikolas Senavsky, had sought treatment at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries sustained during the shooting, and had then been flown to Enloe Hospital in Chico.

Once Senavsky was medically cleared, he was taken into custody by Chico police to be extradited to Lassen County.

The other man, identified as 38-year-old David “DJ” Walker, has yet to be located. Anyone with information on his possible whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at 530-257-6121.
