Port Hueneme Woman Charged in Fatal Oxnard DUI Related Hit-and-Run

VENTURA COUNTY, CA  — October 29, 2026 — A Port Hueneme woman has been arrested and charged with three felonies in connection with a fatal traffic collision in Oxnard that killed a pedestrian.

According to Ventura County Deputy District Attorney Clayton Reagan, 53-year-old Jan Grissinger was driving under the influence of a drug on the night of Oct. 22 when she allegedly ran a red light and struck a woman who was legally crossing the street.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene found the victim dead, but the vehicle involved was gone. Investigators determined that the driver had failed to yield and left the scene after striking the pedestrian.

Minutes later, deputies responded to a report of another collision several miles away. Grissinger was found at that scene after crashing her vehicle into a fence.

She was taken into custody and transported to the Ventura County jail, where she was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a collision causing death, and driving under the influence of a drug causing death.

At Grissinger’s arraignment five days later, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office added multiple special allegations to the charges.

Grissinger remains in custody, with bail set at $50,000.
