Registered Sex Offender Arrested in San Luis Obispo Following NCMEC Cyber Tip
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — An investigation initiated by a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) tip concluded with the arrest of a registered sex offender in San Luis Obispo on multiple felony counts, including possession of child sexual abuse material and narcotics offenses.
In early October 2026, the San Luis Obispo Police Department Detective Bureau received a Cyber Tip from NCMEC regarding suspected child abuse material uploaded to the internet via a popular search engine.
An Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detective launched an investigation and traced the activity to 65-year-old San Luis Obispo resident Bryan Eugene Fox. Investigators confirmed that Fox is a registered sex offender who was also out of compliance with his court-ordered sex offender registration mandates and committing offenses while released on bail.
Following the acquisition of an arrest warrant, officers located and arrested Fox in the 3000 block of Higuera Street on Oct. 14, 2026.
Fox was transported and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on felony charges of failing to register as a sex offender, possession of child pornography by a registered sex offender, possession of a controlled substance, and committing a felony while out on bail, alongside a misdemeanor charge for possession of child pornography.
