El Cajon Traffic Stop Leads to Ghost Gun Recovery and Stolen Vehicle Arrest
EL CAJON, CA — An overnight traffic stop initiated by officers with the El Cajon Division of the California Highway Patrol, resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle, the seizure of an un-serialized firearm, and the arrest of a driver on multiple felony charges.
The incident began during the graveyard shift when CHP El Cajon area officers attempted to execute an enforcement stop on a vehicle for an observed traffic violation. The driver failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, prompting an investigation by responding units.
Upon successfully stopping and securing the vehicle, officers conducted a records check and confirmed that the automobile had been reported stolen. During a subsequent search of the vehicle interior, officers located and seized an un-serialized firearm—commonly known as a ghost gun—which the driver had attempted to hide inside the vehicle.
Officers took the driver into custody without further incident. The suspect was booked into a regional detention facility on multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle and weapons offenses.
