Traffic Stop Near Marina State Beach Leads to Arrest of Suspect Wanted on Human Trafficking Offenses
MARINA, CA-A proactive vehicle check by Marina Police officers on Saturday night led to the arrest of a man wanted on an outstanding warrant related to human trafficking offenses.
The contact occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2026, when officers conducted a check on a vehicle parked near Marina State Beach. Inside, officers contacted 26-year-old Alfredo DeJesus of Salinas and a 16-year-old female juvenile. Investigators determined that the two had met earlier that day at a shopping center in Salinas, where DeJesus offered her transportation and subsequently purchased alcohol and other items for her.
A records check during the encounter revealed that DeJesus had an active arrest warrant issued out of Southern California for charges related to aiding prostitution and human trafficking. Officers took DeJesus into custody at the scene.
Police officials highlighted the incident to raise public awareness regarding grooming tactics used in exploitation, noting that individuals seeking to exploit youth often offer rides, alcohol, or gifts to establish trust. Parents are encouraged to maintain open lines of communication with children regarding the risks of accepting rides or gifts from individuals they have recently met.
The Marina Police Department is actively investigating the matter. Anyone with additional information regarding the suspect or the incident is asked to contact the department at (831) 384-7575 or leave an anonymous tip at (831) 884-1286.
