Wanted Suspect Apprehended Following Pursuit Into a Target Department Store
RIALTO, CA — A probationer wanted in connection with an armed theft was taken into custody following a multi-agency operation that concluded inside a retail store.
The incident stems from a Sept. 22 robbery at a local gas station convenience store. Authorities report that Louis Lopez committed a theft inside the business and pointed a handgun at an employee who confronted him before fleeing the premises. Lopez was also actively sought on a no-bail warrant for violating probation terms.
On Oct. 1, detectives with the Rialto Police Department’s Street Crime Attack Team located Lopez in San Bernardino with aerial assistance from Fontana Police Department’s “Eagle 1” helicopter unit.
When officers attempted to apprehend Lopez, he fled on foot into a nearby Target department store. Law enforcement personnel followed him inside and safely took him into custody without further incident.
