Morgan Hill Man Allegedly Confessed to Killing Wife After Driving Her to Hospital
SAN JOSE, CA — “On October 3, 2026, at approximately 9:20 a.m., the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) notified Morgan Hill Police Department Communications that Roy Anthony Lopez, a 37-year-old Morgan Hill resident, had arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose and reported that he had killed his wife.
First responders located an adult female victim inside a vehicle parked at the hospital. Paramedics provided immediate emergency medical care, but the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
SJPD officers detained Lopez without incident until MHPD officers arrived, took him into custody, and transported him to Morgan Hill for questioning. Lopez was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of murder under Penal Code section 187(a).
The preliminary investigation indicated that the incident occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill. Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence and located three minor children, ages 14, 6, and 3. The children were safely escorted to the Morgan Hill Police Department and later released into the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.
