Wanted Man Accused of Recklessly Evading Mendocino County Authorities While Transporting Cannabis
UKIAH, CA — “On 10/2/2026 at approximately 12:50 A.M., a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was patrolling in the area of Talmage Road in Ukiah when he observed a gray Chrysler traveling in the opposite direction. After the Deputy conducted a U-turn, the Chrysler failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of Talmage Road and Airport Park Boulevard.
The Chrysler turned onto Waugh Lane while failing to obey several traffic laws and driving at a high rate of speed. The Deputy observed sparks coming from a passenger-side wheel of the Chrysler as it continued traveling at a high rate of speed.
The Deputy pursued the Chrysler with the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights; however, the Chrysler failed to stop.
The Chrysler continued driving at a high rate of speed through several residential neighborhoods, entered the oncoming lanes of traffic, and failed to stop at several posted stop signs and traffic control lights. The Chrysler eventually crashed into a curb near the intersection of Empire Drive and North State Street. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers from the Ukiah Police Department arrived to assist with this incident.
A Sheriff’s Deputy pursued the driver on foot and ordered him to stop. The driver initially refused to comply and continued running until his pace slowed, at which time he was detained without further incident. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Isaac Gonzalez of Kelseyville, California.
Following his arrest, Gonzalez was exhibiting several signs and symptoms consistent with alcohol intoxication, including a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and red eyes.
California Highway Patrol Officers responded to assist with the investigation. Gonzalez was transported to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley for medical evaluation and further investigation for driving under the influence. CHP later determined Gonzalez’s blood alcohol concentration was below the adult legal limit but cited him for violations related to being under 21 years of age and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid driver’s license.
A records check also revealed Gonzalez had an outstanding felony arrest warrant in Mendocino County for 211 PC – Second-degree robbery, and 245(a)(4) PC – Assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.
During a search of the Chrysler, Sheriff’s Deputies located processed marijuana packaged in numerous containers and locations throughout the vehicle. Deputies also located suspected psilocybin mushrooms inside the vehicle.
During a subsequent interview at the Mendocino County Jail, Gonzalez admitted he had been transporting marijuana from Kelseyville to Ukiah. Gonzalez also acknowledged he intended to take the marijuana to a residence in Ukiah and planned to provide it to other individuals. Gonzalez also provided information regarding the marijuana packaging materials located inside the vehicle.
Based on the amount of marijuana, the manner in which it was packaged, the separate quantities and forms of marijuana, and Gonzalez’s statements regarding obtaining and transporting the marijuana, Sheriff’s Deputies determined there was probable cause to believe Gonzalez was knowingly in possession of and transporting marijuana for purposes beyond personal use, including for sale or distribution.
Gonzalez was booked into the Mendocino County Jail for 2800.2 VC – Reckless evading of law enforcement, 2800.4 VC – Entering the oncoming lane of traffic while evading, 11360 HS – Transportation of Marijuana for sale, 11359 HS – Possession of marijuana for sale, 11377 HS – Possession of a controlled substance, 148(a) PC – Delaying or obstructing a Peace Officer, and the Felony Arrest Warrant.
Gonzalez is being held at the Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
