California Highway Patrol Officers Arrest Three for DUI During Overnight Shifts
SANTA CRUZ, CA – California Highway Patrol officers operating on recent graveyard shifts arrested three drivers for driving under the influence following separate traffic incidents in Santa Cruz County.
The enforcement actions included responses to two single-vehicle collisions. In one instance, officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle that struck a tree near the Southbound State Route 1 off-ramp for State Route 129, resulting in the driver’s arrest for DUI. Officers conducted a second DUI arrest following a separate solo-vehicle crash in the area.
In a third incident, CHP officers intercepted and safely stopped an erratic driver traveling along Highway 17 after receiving a report from a local community member. The driver was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Law enforcement officials utilized the incidents to remind motorists of the hazards associated with impaired driving and urged drivers to seek alternative transportation if consuming alcohol.
