Suspect Arrested Following Hit-and-Run Involving High School Student in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, CA — A 47-year-old Bloomington man was taken into custody following a hit-and-run incident that injured a high school student earlier this month.
Riverside Police officers and firefighter-paramedics responded to the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Myrtle Avenue at approximately 3:39 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, after receiving multiple reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Authorities determined the victim, a student at Poly High School, was struck by a driver who then fled the location. Paramedics transported the student to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Detectives with the Riverside Police Department’s Traffic Unit led the subsequent investigation. Law enforcement personnel utilized community tips alongside data from automated license plate reader (ALPR) systems to pinpoint the vehicle and identify the driver.
Officers subsequently located and impounded the unoccupied vehicle for evidentiary analysis. On September 10, 2026, after establishing contact with detectives, the suspect surrendered to authorities. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on felony hit-and-run charges.
