Over Two Pounds of Narcotics and Ghost Gun Seized in Desert Hot Springs Search Warrant

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — Officers with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department’s Community Response Team and Patrol Division seized over two pounds of controlled substances and a ghost gun (unserialized firearm) during a search warrant execution on August 21, 2026.

The operation began as a follow-up investigation regarding transient activity in the 66200 block of 7th Street. During the inquiry, officers learned that a local individual currently on probation had recently been involved in a verbal altercation with Code Compliance personnel and was located inside a nearby residence.

As the joint investigation continued, officers developed information indicating that a large quantity of illegal drugs was being stored inside the home. Authorities subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant for the property.

During the search, officers recovered more than two pounds of various controlled substances, an unserialized firearm—commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”—and additional items consistent with the illicit sale of controlled substances.

Officers arrested the suspect at the scene on numerous felony charges. Authorities transported the individual to the county jail, where he was booked into custody.
