Officer-Involved Shooting Following Domestic Violence Call at Pacific Landing Apartments

MURRIETA, CA  —  “On January 29, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Murrieta Police Department Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident occurring inside an apartment at the Pacific Landing Apartments, located at 36125 Creighton Avenue in the City of Murrieta.

Murrieta Police officers arrived at approximately 11:51 p.m. and made a forced entry into the apartment after hearing signs of distress with no answer at the front door. Upon entry, officers encountered a male armed with a handgun. During that encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the male resident was struck with gunfire.

Officers rendered medical aid to the 57-year-old male until paramedics arrived and transported him to Inland Valley Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The male’s identity will not be released at this time. In addition, the involved officers will not be identified at this time. No officers were injured during the incident and the involved officers will be placed on administrative leave, per department policy.

Pursuant to department policy, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Detail (FID) responded to take the lead on investigating the officer-involved shooting and are being assisted by Murrieta Police Detectives.
