Suspect Arrested Following Stolen Vehicle Pursuit and Barricade in Desert Hot Springs

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA  — On June 19, 2026, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office (RSO) pursued a stolen vehicle into the jurisdiction of Desert Hot Springs. The Desert Hot Springs Police Department (DHSPD) responded to a request for assistance and positioned officerssuspect in custody - axon body cam still image - courtesy of desert hot springs police department ahead of the pursuit to deploy a tire deflation device. The suspect evaded the deployment by maneuvering around the device.

The pursuit concluded shortly thereafter when the stolen vehicle became disabled. The suspect barricaded himself inside the vehicle and refused commands to exit, prompting RSO to request assistance from DHSPD for the deployment of a less-lethal PepperBall launcher.

Following the deployment of the PepperBall system, the suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody by law enforcement personnel. No injuries were reported to officers or the suspect during the incident.
