Recent Police Activities in Beaumont: September 9, 2023

“On Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 7:00p.m., a Beaumont PD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 10th Street and Edgar Avenue. The driver was found to have an active felony warrant for a weapons violation, so officers requested the assistance of K9 Murph and his handler. K9 Murph alerted to several areas of the vehicle and during a subsequent search two firearms, ammunition and drug paraphernalia were located. One of the weapons was determined to have been reported stolen out of the City of Redlands Two occupants were arrested for weapons violations and booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, the Beaumont Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) conducted a follow up investigation on a catalytic converter theft in the city. In that case, a witness reported seeing his neighbor’s catalytic converter taken from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the Sundance neighborhood. The CSU Team was able to locate the suspects, and identified the vehicle used in the theft within the City of Redlands. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Tennessee Avenue north of Redlands Blvd and detained both of the suspects without incident. Both suspects were arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime; and were booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 12:17 a.m., a Beaumont Police Officer observed a reckless driver on the I-10 Freeway and 22nd Street in the City of Banning. While on the freeway, the driver almost collided with the officer’s patrol vehicle. The driver then sped around the officer and almost collided with a second vehicle traveling on the freeway. The officer then initiated a traffic stop however, the driver attempted to turn off the headlamps and accelerated in speed in an attempt to evade the officer. The driver then exited the freeway onto Highland Springs Avenue, while continuing to commit additional traffic violations. The driver then stopped in the area of 2nd Street Marketplace and the driver was detained without incident. The driver was arrested for reckless driving and evading a peace officer and was booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
