Napa Police Arrest Barricaded Suspect Following Standoff on Silverado Trail

NAPA, CA — Napa Police Department patrol officers arrested a 37-year-old man Sunday following a standoff involving a restraining order violation, threats of a firearm, and a barricaded residence.

On August 23, 2026, officers attempted to contact 37-year-old Napa resident Erik Schoch on the 100 block of Silverado Trail regarding an active arrest warrant and an alleged restraining order violation. Upon officers’ arrival, Schoch barricaded the entrance, refused commands to exit, and stated he possessed a firearm. Recognizing that the protected individual was inside and unable to leave, officers entered the residence and brought the victim to safety.

While inside, officers encountered Schoch in a hallway, where he disregarded orders and challenged officers. Personnel deployed a police K9 to assist in taking Schoch into custody after he continued to resist arrest.

Following the arrest, officers recovered a replica firearm and drug paraphernalia from the barricaded area. Schoch was booked into custody on multiple criminal charges.
