George Rodriguez Recio Sentenced to 73 Years to Life for Sexual Abuse

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — A San Luis Obispo County man was sentenced Tuesday to 73 years to life in state prison for the repeated sexual assault of four female victims over nearly three decades.

On August 25, 2026, Superior Court Judge Michael Frye handed down the sentence to 74-year-old George Rodriguez Recio following his June 3, 2026 jury conviction. Recio was found guilty of 20 felony counts involving offenses committed in Grover Beach between 1996 and 2024. Evidence presented at trial established that three of the victims were between the ages of 6 and 12 during the period of abuse, while the fourth victim was 25 years old.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court issued lifelong criminal protective orders prohibiting Recio from contacting the victims and mandated lifetime sex offender registration. During the sentencing proceeding, three victims delivered impact statements to the court, and a victim advocate read a statement on behalf of the youngest victim.
