Sutter County Jail Inmate Escapes Hospital Custody in Marysville

MARYSVILLE, CA — Authorities are searching for an incarcerated individual who walked away from a hospital facility early Sunday morning.

Jerome D. Woody, 44, escaped custody from his room at Adventist Health Rideout Hospital at approximately 3:53 a.m. on August 23, 2026. At the time of the incident, Woody was under the supervision of a private security company contracted by Sutter County to monitor non-violent prisoners.

Deputies with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office alongside local law enforcement agencies initiated an extensive search of the surrounding area, but were unable to locate him. Woody was originally held on non-violent charges and is not believed to be armed or dangerous.

Officials describe Woody as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, last seen wearing a hospital gown. While listed as unhoused, he maintains ties to the Yuba–Sutter region.

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office requests anyone with information regarding Woody’s location to contact dispatch at 530-822-7307, option 9.
