City-Contracted Navigation Center Staff Arrested: Suspected of Harboring Gunman in Officer Shooting
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Officers with the San Francisco Police Department have arrested two employees of a city-contracted navigation center for allegedly helping an attempted murder suspect evade law enforcement following the shooting of a police officer, Chief Derrick Lew announced Friday.
The incident originated on May 31, 2026, at approximately 10:29 p.m., when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a robbery suspect near Mission and 1st Streets. The driver fled before crashing the vehicle near Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue. Upon contact by responding officers, the driver opened fire, striking one officer multiple times and prompting an officer-involved shooting.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Norris Reed III, fled on foot to a navigation center at 125 Bayshore Boulevard while officers provided medical aid to the injured officer and a second injured suspect.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested navigation center employees Oliver Barcenas, 36, and Erika Porter, 45. Both individuals were booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges related to harboring Reed on the night of the shooting.
