Five Arrested after Series of Holiday Season Burglaries

SAN FRANCISCO — Five suspects are in custody after an investigation into a series of robberies which began with the onset of the holiday season.

In many of these robberies, the suspect would approach and attack victims prior to stealing various personal effects including phones, jewelry, purses, and shopping items.

On December 4th at approximately 10:17 PM, an SFPD Northern District Police Station staff member spotted a vehicle that matched the description attached to one of the most recent robbery cases. The vehicle was stopped near Gough & Sutter and its occupants were held for questioning.

The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Serena Sumpter, 22-year-old Marcus Murphy, 18-year-old Katherin Wilson, 18-year-old Keith Smith, and 18-year-old Jayonn Blacknell. All five were arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on five counts of robbery, conspiracy, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Murphy, Smith, and Blacknell were also booked in charges of probation violation related to previous felony convictions related to firearms.
