SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On March 24, 2026, at approximately 10:43 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a reported shooting on the 1800 block of Sunnydale Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds and rendered initial medical aid. Paramedics subsequently transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail assumed control of the investigation. Through investigative efforts, detectives identified 32-year-old Gregory C. Morton as the suspect in the shooting, and an arrest warrant was issued.
On August 8, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the Violence Reduction Team located Morton at a property in Oakland. Law enforcement officers conducted surveillance on Morton as he traveled into San Francisco, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Morton was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on a charge of homicide under California Penal Code section 187(a). The case, identified under SFPD Case #260-166-852, remains an open and active investigation, and authorities are requesting anyone with information to contact the department via phone or text.
