Fresno County Deputy Charged with Multiple Sexual Offenses, False Imprisonment
FRESNO COUNTY, CA — “The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Alejandro Gabriel Apodaca, (31, of Lemoore), alleging he committed multiple sexual offenses against one woman and falsely imprisoned a second woman.
At the time of the alleged offenses, Apodaca was serving as a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy.
According to the felony complaint, on May 10, 2026, Apodaca went to the apartment of the first victim wearing his law enforcement uniform. It is alleged that Apodaca engaged in unwanted and inappropriate sexual contact with the victim, including touching her and directing her to engage in sexual contact with him.
The complaint further alleges that on March 11, 2026, Apodaca directed a second woman to pull her vehicle to the side of the road.
It is alleged that Apodaca approached her vehicle, reached inside and took possession of her cellular phone, and attempted to engage in unwanted sexual contact with her as she moved away from him inside the vehicle.
The felony complaint filed in Fresno County Superior Court alleges that Alejandro Apodaca committed the following offenses:
• One (1) count of SEXUAL BATTERY BY RESTRAINT [Penal Code § 243.4(a)];
• One (1) count of ASSAULT BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL [Penal Code § 149];
• Two (2) counts of SEXUAL BATTERY [Penal Code § 243.4(e)(1)]; and
• One (1) count of FALSE IMPRISONMENT BY VIOLENCE OR MENACE [Penal Code § 236]
If convicted of all charges and applicable allegations, Apodaca faces a maximum sentence of 5 years, 4 months in custody. If convicted of the applicable sex offense, Apodaca would be required to register as a sex offender for life pursuant to California law.
Apodaca was arrested on May 12, 2026, in Lemoore, California, and booked into the Fresno County Jail. He was subsequently released on bond and is scheduled to appear out of custody for his arraignment on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 33 of the Fresno County Superior Court.”
