Lake County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Upper Lake Shooting and Assault Incident
UPPER LAKE, CA — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating an assault and shooting incident that occurred on August 7, 2026, in Upper Lake.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault and possible gunfire at a residence on Upper Lake Lucerne Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim with physical injuries and a gunshot wound. She was transported via air ambulance to an out-of-county medical facility for treatment and was subsequently reported in stable condition.
During the initial assessment, the victim stated the assault occurred at a nearby residence on Upper Lake Lucerne Road, where the suspect remained. Deputies, supported by California Highway Patrol officers and CAL FIRE Law Enforcement personnel, established a perimeter around the second property.
A Lake County Sheriff’s Office drone deployed at the scene located the suspect outside the residence a short distance away. Authorities identified the individual as Robert “Bobby” Lovrin, 39, of Upper Lake, identified as the victim’s former boyfriend. Lovrin was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a handgun was recovered near the scene.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the coordinated assistance of the California Highway Patrol and CAL FIRE during the response.
