Fresno Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Family Disturbance

FRESNO, CA — “On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 8:49 pm, officers responded to a family disturbance at a confidential location. The victim told officers that she was in a verbal argument with her sister when her brother in law, Jacob Ballinger walked towards the victim, placed both hands on her neck, and began to strangle her. The victim lost her balance, fell to the ground, and hit her head on a wall-mounted AC unit. Suspect Ballinger continued to strangle the victim for what the victim estimated to be three minutes, and prevented her from moving. The victim stated she felt pain to both sides of her neck and lost consciousness during the assault.

The victim’s boyfriend intervened during the assault, while holding the couple’s three-month-old in his arm. As the boyfriend tried to get suspect Ballinger off the victim, suspect Ballinger pushed the boyfriend back, causing the boyfriend to fall and drop the three-month-old on the ground. Suspect Ballinger left before officers arrived. On August 10, 2026, at approximately 10:38 pm, officers responded to the area of East Shaw Avenue and Fresno Street and contacted suspect Ballinger during an unrelated suspicious vehicle call. Officers arrested Ballinger for charges related to the investigation on August 6, 2026, including assault likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment, and child abuse.”
