Fresno Police Investigate Fatal Shooting over 4th of July Weekend

FRESNO, CA — “On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Central Policing District Officers were dispatched to the area of East Dakota Avenue and North Abby Street regarding a shooting victim lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located 36-year-old Keith Breazell of Fresno suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and EMS personnel attempted life-saving measures, but victim Breazell was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide Detectives determined that a large number of subjects were gathered at the location for a Fourth of July celebration prior to the shooting. Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and seeking witnesses who may have information about the incident. This is the 14th murder of 2026.
