Former Therapist at Juvenile Hall Charged for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor
MARTINEZ , CA— A former therapist at county juvenile hall faces charges for alleged sexual misconduct
with a teenage boy.
Sophia Ann-Buitron Drotts, 26, of San Francisco, was released from custody
following her arrest last month. Drotts is scheduled for arraignment on August 28.
A felony complaint filed against Drotts on July 27 includes –
· Two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse
· Two counts of oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age
· One count of sexual penetration by a foreign object
· Two counts of sending harmful matter to a minor
· One count of possession of child or youth pornography
“The charges stem from sexual relationship with a minor who had been under her care,” according to
a prepared statement from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. “Drotts was arrested by
Concord police on July 14 following an investigation.”
Drotts formerly worked as a behavioral health clinician at John A. Davis Juvenile Hall in Martinez.
Drotts allegedly groomed the teenager for nearly two years, beginning when he was 15 years old.
After he was released from custody, Drotts allegedly had a sexual relationship with him from April 1
until July 14.
Concord detectives investigated Drotts, after receiving a tip from a supervisor at the Contra Costa
County Probation Department. Drotts continued her role as the juvenile’s therapist after he was
released from custody in April. She allegedly used her role as therapist to establish an inappropriate
relationship.
