EL CERRITO — A 59-year-old woman was assaulted and severely disfigured on May 27. The victim
was beaten and robbed on the Online Greenway pedestrian path near Wall Avenue. Her alleged
assailant Dakauna Buckley, 38, of San Pablo, was arrested shortly afterwards at 1:40 p.m.

The victim was attacked from behind. She was struck on her head with a metal wrench, and across
the side of her face as she collapsed. Several of her teeth became dislodged, and she suffered deep
lacerations on her head and face.

Next the victim’s purse was stolen, and the suspect fled running along the pedestrian pathway.
Witnesses phoned for police. Richmond and El Cerrito officers responded to the crime scene.
The victim managed to walk to a nearby business seeking help, despite profuse bleeding and her
severe injuries. Paramedics were dispatched and transported the woman to a trauma center for
medical treatment.

A witness pointed out Buckley attempting to hide inside a thicket of bushes. As Richmond officers
approached her hiding place, she ran towards nearby houses. Buckley was pursued during a foot
chase before being tackled to the ground. El Cerrito police made the arrest of Buckley near Waldo
Avenue.

Buckley was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where she remains in custody in lieu of
$100,000 bond. She was booked on suspicion of –
