CONCORD — A man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting in broad daylight near Buchanan Field Airport. This brazen shooting occurred during the middle of lunch hour at the Stanwell Office Park.

Police responded to a report of gunfire outside an office building on July 27 at 12:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a fatally wounded man in a parking lot on the 2300 block of Stanwell Drive.

The victim was identified as a Concord resident, 39-year-old Michael Olsen. He was found unconscious lying on the pavement, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

First responders attempted to resuscitate him to no avail, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Concord Police Department’s major crimes unit was assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death. A suspect believed responsible for committing this homicide was quickly identified.

Harminder S. Aujla, 40 of Pleasant Hill, was subsequently taken into custody. Aujla was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

In a prepared statement Concord police said. “The shooting was not random nor gang-related, and no other suspects are believed to be at large.”

Harminder presently faces one charge for murder. He remains in custody ineligible for release on bond.

This homicide investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the case can call Concord police detective Kevin Giacoletto at 925-671-3040.
