One Suspect Faces Multiple Charges for a Shooting Incident Involving 4 Victims

WALNUT CREEK — A 22-year-old suspect faces multiple charges in connection with a shooting that killed one person and wounded three other persons last month. Thus far, only one suspect has been identified.

The incident occurred in a commercial district on July 18th shortly after 1:30 a.m. All four victims were shot on SOS Drive, near North Main Street.

A dispatcher received multiple 911 calls reporting shots being fired. Officers arrived on the scene within about two minutes.
One of the gunshot victims, a resident of San Pablo, 25-year-old Lutfit Abbushi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other persons were transported to a hospital to receive medical treatment. None of their injuries was life threatening and they are expected to recover.

One suspect believed responsible was located four days later. Officers contacted Jose G. Casillas-Flores, a resident of Brentwood, during a traffic stop on July 22. He was arrested without further incident.

Authorities also obtained a warrant to search the residence of Casillas-Flores. Inside his home they located substantial evidence, including a handgun and ammunition.

Multiple charges pending against Casillas-Flores are being reviewed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

There are no additional outstanding suspects stemming from the one victim’s death, according to Walnut Creek PD. However, this investigation of the shooting incident remains ongoing.
