Female Suspect Arrested in Relation to North Freemont Street Stabbing Incident
MONTEREY, CA — Monterey Police Department officers arrested a 19-year-old woman on July 30 in connection with a stabbing initially reported earlier in the month, according to authorities.
On July 2 at approximately 9:32 p.m., police responded to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula after a male victim arrived with non-life-threatening stab wounds. The victim was later transferred to Natividad Medical Center.
The victim initially reported being assaulted with a pocketknife by an unknown male in a red jacket on the 2300 block of North Fremont Street. However, a subsequent investigation by MPD detectives determined that the victim’s original statement regarding the location and circumstances of the incident was false.
Investigators revealed that the victim and 19-year-old Jerralyn Stringer, who were in a romantic relationship, had engaged in a verbal altercation at an apartment on the 400 block of Dela Vina Avenue. During the dispute, Stringer reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times.
Detectives subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Stringer for attempted murder (Penal Code 664/187). On July 30 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Monterey and Pacific Grove police officers located and arrested Stringer without incident near Gibson Avenue and Forest Avenue in Pacific Grove. She was booked into the Monterey County Jail with bail set at $1,000,000.
