The incident initiated when officers attempted to stop a Volkswagen sedan. The driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit during which the vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph and ran multiple red lights. During the pursuit, occupants of the vehicle discarded an object from the window. Officers later recovered the item, which was identified as a handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine.

The pursuit concluded when the Volkswagen crashed. Both occupants were transported to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment, with the passenger sustaining possible major injuries. No members of the public were injured during the incident.

Following medical clearance, the driver was placed under arrest and charged with felony evading. The passenger was arrested on charges of providing a false name to law enforcement, illegal possession of a firearm, and a probation violation. The identity of the suspects has not been released, and the investigation remains active.
