Suspect Arrested in Desert Hot Springs Vehicle-Versus-Pedestrian-Hit-and-Run
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — Police have arrested a 53-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident following a vehicle-versus-pedestrian hit-and-run collision on Palm Drive.
Officers with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department responded to the incident on July 21, 2026, at approximately 9:57 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located an injured male pedestrian in the roadway. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
The driver involved in the collision fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) assumed control of the case.FLO
Investigators identified the suspect vehicle and obtained its license plate using Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras. During the investigation, detectives discovered that the suspect had purchased bus and train tickets to leave the area.
On July 23, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., MAIT investigators and police detectives arrested Clark Bonillas Dionisio in Palm Springs. Authorities stated the arrest took place hours before Dionisio was scheduled to leave the state.
Dionisio was booked into the Riverside County Jail on suspicion of Felony Hit-and-Run Resulting in Serious Injury or Death. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
