Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended for Back-to-Back Holdups

TEMECULA — A call came in to Temecula Police Department regarding an armed robbery at 12:12 AM on Monday. Officers arrived on scene to 31900 block of Rancho California Road, to find that the suspect had fled the area.

Shortly thereafter, another call came in describing another armed robbery, with a description of a suspect matching the prior armed robbery — approximately 15 miles due north in the city of Menifee.

The Temecula Police Department Burglary/Robbery Suppression Team launched an immediate investigation, discovering a suspect, Joshua Phillips (21) of Temecula. “Phillips was later booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on multiple charges including robbery and possession of a loaded stolen firearm,” announced Sergeant Russell Hilton.

Phillips is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.

Riverside County Sheriffs added, “This investigation is ongoing, and we are asking anyone with additional information to contact Investigator Marquez at the Temecula Police Station at 951-696-3000.”
