Redding Man Found Guilty by Jury in Christmas 2021 Double Murder

REDDING, CA — “On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, a Shasta County jury reached a verdict in Colton Wayne Rhone murder trial, in which Rhone was charged with murdering two people in a home on Oasis Road in Redding on New Year’s Eve 2021. The jury returned verdicts of guilt as to Second-Degree Murder, First-Degree Murder, and First-Degree Residential Burglary related to Counts 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

Once the jury reached a verdict in the guilt portion of the trial, the jury returned the next morning to hear the sanity portion of the trial, in which they were asked to determine whether Rhone was legally sane at the time he committed the charges. Today, the jury reached a verdict in the sanity portion of the Rhone murder trial. The jury determined that Rhone was sane at the time he committed the crimes.

Judgment and sentencing are scheduled for August 27, 2026 at 4:00 pm in Department 23 of the Shasta County Superior Court.”
