Two Arrested for Alleged Fuel Theft in Butte County

BUTTE COUNTY, CA — “On July 21, 2026, at approximately 4:32 p.m., Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to the area of Highway 99 and Skillin Lane for a reported fuel theft in progress.

Deputies learned two men were stealing diesel fuel from a private property fuel tank. When confronted, the suspects fled in a beige truck towing a flatbed trailer. During the escape, the driver rammed through a locked gate before leaving the property.

At approximately 4:44 p.m., deputies located the vehicle in Oroville and detained two individuals, identified as Jack Walker, age 52 of Robbins and Udom Ketphanh, age 44 of Sacramento.

Both were arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on charges including conspiracy, vandalism, and petty theft.
