Stolen Wallets, ID Cards, Other Personal Documents Allegedly Discovered in Oroville Man’s Possession
OROVILLE, CA — “On August 4, 2026, at approximately 7:34 a.m., a Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy conducted a welfare check on a man who appeared to be sleeping on a bench outside a business in the 2200 block of Feather River Blvd. in Oroville.
During the contact, the deputy observed drug paraphernalia in plain view and detained the man, identified as Michael Dedmon, age 39 of Oroville.
While searching Dedmon’s property, deputies located multiple wallets, identification cards, access cards, and other financial cards belonging to several individuals. Deputies also found evidence suggesting possible unauthorized use of one victim’s financial information.
Dedmon was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, identity theft, and unlawful possession of access card information. He was booked into the Butte County Jail.
Deputies have identified at least one confirmed victim and are working to contact additional possible victims connected to the recovered property. This investigation is ongoing.”
