Livermore Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Possession of a Loaded Handgun and Cocaine

LIVERMORE, CA — Francisco G. Perez, 35, of Pleasanton, faces drug- and firearms-related charges, following his arrest in Livermore on June 24. Perez was allegedly found in possession of a loaded handgun and cocaine when he was stopped for a traffic violation.

Police observed his vehicle run a stop sign near the intersection of Holmes Street and Alden Lane at 8:20 a.m. After pulling Perez over, officers discovered his license was suspended because of a DUI conviction.

While preparing to impound the vehicle, officers searched the vehicle prior to it being towed. This resulted in the discovery of more incriminating evidence. Inside the vehicle officers found a loaded a Glock handgun and more than one ounce of cocaine. Perez was also carrying a large amount of cash. Perez was ultimately placed under arrest and booked at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail.

Public records reveal that Perez is a convicted felon, legally prohibiting him from possessing firearms or ammunition. He has at least eight prior arrests since 2014 and has served time in prison, with previous convictions for assault in 2014 and possession of a controlled substance for sale in 2016.
