Colusa County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Double Homicide on Sills Road in Arbuckle
ARBUCKLE, CA — The Colusa County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active investigation into a double homicide that occurred on Sills Road in Arbuckle, California.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., deputies responded to the Sills Road location following a report regarding a possible deceased person. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered two unresponsive adult males who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victims have been identified as 48-year-old Jason Edward Carr of Dunnigan and 36-year-old Richard Leon Mathies Jr. of Yolo County. Next of kin have been notified by the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives, the Colusa County Task Force, and Department of Justice Crime Scene Investigators responded to the location to process evidence, conduct interviews, and follow investigative leads throughout the night.
According to officials, investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community based on current information. The investigation remains active under the direction of Sheriff Joe Garofalo.
Authorities are requesting that anyone who traveled near Sills Road between Thursday, June 25, 2026, and Friday, June 26, 2026, or who has information regarding suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles, contact Detective Sergeant Antonio Ruiz at (530) 458-0200.
