Santa Ana Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Involving Armed 16-Year-Old
SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana Police Department has initiated an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old suspect.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., police officers responded to a residential location at 3400 S. Main Street following a report of a family disturbance. The individual who contacted police stated that his girlfriend’s 16-year-old son was under the influence, actively damaging property inside their apartment, and had stabbed him with a knife.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers made contact with the teenage suspect, who was still armed with the knife. An officer-involved shooting occurred during the encounter.
The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the incident.
In accordance with standard protocol, the incident is currently being investigated by multiple entities, including the Santa Ana Police Department’s Homicide Unit, the Internal Affairs Division, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
