Claremont Man Gets 26 Years to Life in Prison for 2022 Murder of Ex-Girlfriend

POMONA, CA —Jeffrey Alexander Calzada has been sentenced to 26 years to life in state prison for the 2022 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Anisa Castaneda, in Claremont.

On August 12, 2022, Claremont Police detectives worked with the Murrieta and Pomona Police Departments after a woman was found fatally stabbed in a vehicle outside Murrieta City Hall, next to the Murrieta Police Department. The suspect, Jeffrey Calzada, was detained by Murrieta officers.

The multi-agency investigation determined the homicide occurred in the City of Claremont, near the Garey Avenue and Foothill Boulevard area. Calzada was arrested by the Claremont Police Department and was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder in April, 2026.

On June 9, 2026, he was sentenced in Pomona Superior Court to 25 years to life for the murder, plus one additional year for a weapons enhancement, for a total sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.”
