L.A. SWAT team rescues kidnap victim

MIRA LOMA – Twenty members of the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team rescued a kidnapped man that had been shot and held for ransom on Monday in Riverside County.

Three people were in custody, according to L.A. police media relations, in what is likely a drug-related case.“We can’t release the name of the victim just yet,” said Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Media Relations Section. “No one was hurt in the raid.”

The victim, however, who is believed to be in his 20s, had been found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He had been kidnapped in Van Nuys, over an hour away from the Riverside County community. The two-story residence is located in the 6900 block of Delaware River Road, near Mira Loma.

After the raid, the victim was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

“A large volume of drugs was found inside the home,” Rayner said. “It consisted mostly of marijuana being grown inside the residence.”
