IRVINE, CA — The Irvine Police Department has arrested a suspect following an investigation into a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on June 10 at approximately 8:54 p.m.

Initial emergency responses were initiated after the police department and the Orange County Fire Authority received reports of a collision at the intersection of Alton Parkway and Irvine Center Drive. Preliminary findings indicated that a pedestrian was walking northbound within a marked crosswalk across Alton Parkway, on the east side of Irvine Center Drive, when they were struck by a westbound vehicle traveling through the intersection. Responding personnel administered life-saving measures, and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

Following the incident, the police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team requested public assistance to help locate the driver and a dark-colored vehicle with suspected front-end damage.

On the morning of June 17, a community member reported a black Ford SUV with front-end damage parked near Barranca Parkway and State Route 133. Investigators responded to the location and confirmed the vehicle’s involvement in the collision.

Through the subsequent investigation, traffic detectives identified the driver as Felix Murillo, a 25-year-old resident of Lake Forest. Murillo was arrested on June 18 and is scheduled to be booked at the Orange County Jail on felony hit-and-run charges.
