Fresno Man Arrested for Allegedly Evading Police on Pit Bike

FRESNO, CA — “On Sunday, May 24, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, Traffic Unit officers responded to the area of Fulton Street and Merced Street for a traffic complaint regarding ‘PIT’ style motorcycles also known as ‘Pit Bikes’ driving recklessly by doing wheelies on Fulton Street. A Traffic Officer arrived in the area and noticed a male subject riding a Pit Bike without a helmet on Fulton Street. The Traffic Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver for multiple vehicle code violations. The driver instead sped off and led the officer on a short pursuit. During the pursuit the suspect did not stop for several red lights and stop signs, along with driving the wrong way down the street putting the safety of several motorists in the area in harm’s way.

The Pit Bike driver continued to speed and drive recklessly for approximately 20 minutes, almost causing several accidents throughout the city. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department – Eagle 1 helicopter assisted officers by following the Pit Bike and provided updates of the driver’s location. The suspect then drove to the area of Olive Ave and Thesta Avenue where he parked his Pit Bike at a residence and then fled inside the location. Approximately 1 hour later the driver 18-year-old Angel Ramirez, of Fresno, exited the residence and was arrested by officers. The involved Pit Bike was impounded as evidence from the residence.

Suspect Ramirez was arrested for felony evading and several vehicle code violations. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail.

The Fresno Police Department will continue to enforce reckless driving behavior in an effort to protect the citizens of Fresno and prevent traffic collisions and fatalities. To report reckless driving please contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000 or 911 if it’s an emergency.”
