Surveillance Operation Leads to Arrest of San Bernardino Resident for Fuel Card Fraud and Skimming

CHINO, CA – A collaborative investigation between police officers and detectives resulted in the arrest of a San Bernardino resident suspected of utilizing fraudulent company fuel cards at multiple regional gasoline stations.

The investigation was initiated after authorities received reports regarding the unauthorized use of a corporate fuel card across the area. Through the analysis of video surveillance footage and subsequent follow-up procedures, investigators identified a specific suspect vehicle connected to multiple incidents. In the course of the inquiry, law enforcement personnel also discovered that a credit card skimming device had been installed on a local gasoline pump.

Detectives initiated a surveillance operation that culminated at a gasoline station in Colton, where they took the suspect into custody without incident. At the time of the arrest, the individual was found in possession of more than 80 fraudulent access cards. Furthermore, an examination of the suspect’s vehicle revealed it had been physically modified with specialized equipment designed to store bulk quantities of fuel. The vehicle was seized as evidence, and the suspect was transported to the county jail for booking.

Following the arrest, law enforcement officials advised motorists to remain vigilant when utilizing automated fuel pumps. Recommended safety measures include inspecting card readers for signs of tampering prior to use, selecting fuel pumps located in closer proximity to the main store building, and reporting unusual activity to station management or authorities.
