Rialto woman arrested after vandalizing a medical clinic and biting a police officer

A Rialto mother has been arrested after a disagreement with medical staff led her to damage items in a medical clinic and assault arresting police officers.  The suspect, Lashay Grayes (44), is being held on charges relating to assaulting and resisting officers, criminal threats, disturbing the pace, and vandalism.

The incident took place just before 10 AM on Friday, February 25th.  According to a news release from the Rialto Police Department, “Employees [of the medical clinic] were interviewed and told officers that Grayes became angry over a medical record not being released.  Employees told officers that Grayes threw office property, breaking a Plexiglas barrier.”

Officers were called out to the medical clinic, located in the 1800 Block of N. Riverside Avenue, after one of the managers had made a citizen’s arrest.  When officers attempted to handcuff Grayes in the clinic lobby, she violently resisted, biting one of the officers in the leg.

Officers were finally able to restrain Grayes with handcuffs and a safety restraint after several minutes of struggle.  She was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital after complaining of pain.  “Two of the arresting officers received minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital,” according to the release.

Grayes is being held at West Valley Detention Center on $40,000 bail.
