Two Suspects Arrested for a Murder on Mulberry Street – A Third Suspect Remains at Large
By Jim Emerson
NEWARK — Two suspects were arrested on May 6 for a murder on Mulberry Street in
Newark. Albert “AJ” Sanchez-Hernandez, 27, of Newark, and Raina Capuchin, 30, of Tracy,
were booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. Meanwhile, a third suspect remains at
large.
Police responded to a residence on the 36000 block of Mulberry Street on February 1,
regarding a “suspicious death.” Inside the home officers discovered the dead body of 36-year-
old Daniel Ledesma. His death was first believed to be a suicide, but investigators later
determined that he was murdered.
Sanchez-Hernandez and Capuchin were identified as suspects, and Ramey warrants were
issued for their arrests. Newark police identified 32-year-old Matthew J. Aguirre, as the third
suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The nature of the relationships between the suspects and victim remain under investigation,
as does the motive for this homicide.
“Investigators do not believe this was a random act, as the suspects knew the victim,” Newark
police said in a prepared statement. “Aguirre is a potential public safety risk, and should be
considered armed and dangerous.”
Sanchez-Hernandez and Capuchin were each booked on suspicion of murder. They remain in
custody without bond, pending their arraignments.
Newark police released a photo of Aguirre and have asked the public for help finding him.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Aguirre, or details concerning this
homicide, can contact Newark detective Sgt. Matt Warrant at 510-578-4960.
