Two Arrested in Irvine for Multi-Store Lego Minifigure Theft Scheme

IRVINE, CA — April 30th 2026

Irvine Police Department officers arrested two residents of Tijuana on Tuesday April 28th in relation to a Lego left scheme. The investigation took place following a series of retail thefts involving Lego merchandise at various Target locations. The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Adriana Esquerra Gonzalez and 30-year-old Luis Alfredo Quintanilla Pompa, were apprehended at the Irvine Spectrum.

The incident began when Spectrum-based officers were notified that a man and a woman had purchased Lego sets and immediately returned the boxes after removing the minifigures. Working in coordination with retail loss prevention personnel, investigators determined that the pair had visited five other stores earlier that day to conduct similar transactions.

Following the identification of the suspects, officers conducted a search of their vehicle. The search yielded several stolen Lego pieces consistent with the items reported missing from the returned boxes.

Gonzalez and Pompa were taken into custody and charged with shoplifting. The arrests were part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address retail theft within the Irvine Spectrum area.
