Matthew Wratislaw Apprehended in North Lakeport Following Rooftop Standoff

LAKEPORT, CA — Authorities took 40-year-old Matthew Wratislaw of Lakeport into custody on the afternoon of April 25th following a law enforcement operation in the North Lakeport area. The incident began at approximately 2:00 PM when a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy located Wratislaw, who had been sought in connection with a burglary-related incident earlier in the week on Lakeshore Blvd. According to sheriff’s officials, Wratislaw displayed a firearm during the initial contact before fleeing on foot and climbing onto the roof of a residence located in the 3800 block of Lakeshore Blvd, leading to a rooftop standoff.

In response to the situation, additional deputies arrived to establish a perimeter and initiated de-escalation efforts. A shelter-in-place alert was issued for residents in zone LAK-E065, specifically covering the 3600 block of Lakeshore Blvd to Island View, as a safety precaution. Following these negotiations, Wratislaw descended from the roof and was apprehended. Law enforcement recovered a loaded firearm at the scene.

The shelter-in-place order was officially lifted at 4:20 PM, and an “all clear” notification was distributed to the community. Wratislaw was subsequently transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility. He faces charges related to the events of April 25 as well as the prior burglary-related incident from which he had previously fled custody. Local officials credited the resolution of the incident to the evolution of their tactical response and expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the North Lakeport community.
