BENICIA, CA — A 59-year-old Benicia resident was taken into custody Thursday, April 23, following a multi-agency investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography.
The Benicia Police Department, in coordination with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau and Sheriff’s Enforcement Team, served a search warrant at a local residence. According to department officials, the warrant was issued in relation to allegations regarding the distribution of illegal materials.
Solano County Jail records identify James Michael Kendall as the suspect related to the department’s press release. Following the discovery of evidence during the search, Kendall was booked into the Justice Center Detention Facility on the following charges:
PC 311.1(A): Sending or selling obscene matter depicting a minor (Felony)
PC 311.11(C)(1): Possession of obscene matter depicting a minor under 12 years of age (Felony)
PC 311.11(A)(1): Possession of obscene matter depicting a minor (Felony)
HS 11377(A): Possession of a controlled substance (Misdemeanor)
Kendall is currently being held in lieu of $61,667 bail. According to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, he is scheduled for a court appearance at the Fairfield Superior Court on April 27 at 1:30 p.m. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to process the evidence seized during the operation.
